Henry Charles Bukowski (16 august 1920 - 9 martie 1994), a fost un poet, romancier germano-american. Este adesea cunoscut sub pseudonime ca: Hank, Buk, Henry Chinasky, acesta din urma fiind un alter-ego in numeroase romane autobiografice.
Scrierile lui Bukowski au fost puternic influentate de atmosfera casei lui din orasul Los Angeles si sunt marcate de empatie pentru viata obisnuita a saracilor americani albi, actul scrisului, alcool, relatiile cu femei.
Un autor prolific, Bukowski a scris mii de poezii, sute de nuvele si sase romane.
