We loved Bucuresti, and, apart from a hot hostel room, enjoyed our stay there very much. Highlights were a tour of the Palace of Parliament, Ceausescu's megalomaniacal project, that was still unfinished when he was executed in 1989, the outdoor Village Museum, where we managed to catch a couple of hours of a weekend-long folk music festival, and a guided walk through the old city. We also saw bits of a couple of other musical events: an orchestral concert in the city and the tail end of a folk music festival in Cismigiu Park, just across the road from our hostel.
