Guy Laroche - Paris FW 2011
At Guy Laroche, designer Marcel Marongiu deftly balanced masculine and feminine energies by pairing crisp outwear with figure-hugging dresses, starting with the opening look: A boxy black kimono-collared overcoat thrown over a slinky emerald dress gathered into a frill tumbling down the front. Precision-tailored leather pieces, including a Tyrolean green skirt that curled around the waist, brought to mind the Eighties heyday of Claude Montana. But dresses with bold black, gray and beige geometrical patterns brought the collection into the here-and-now, though it was a pity they were shown alongside insipid knits and poorly fabricated shoes.
