Oldies
Sam Cooke was quite simply put, "The Man Who Invented Soul".
His voice, phrasing and style would go on to influence a generation of singers in the genres of rock, pop and soul. His influence is evident when listening to artists/fans from the likes of Smokey Robinson, Marvin Gaye, Otis Redding to Rod Stewart, Terence Trent D'arby and Guy Sebastian.
This was an exquisite recording from Sam Cooke Live at the Copa performing a medley of songs, namely Try a Little Tenderness, (I Love You) For Sentimental Reasons and You Send Me.
I would also highly recommend listening to Sam's gospel music from the Soul Stirrers era. His first five gospel recordings define soul music as we know it today. Go out and get yourself "The Complete Recordings of Sam Cooke with the Soul Stirrers" from Amazon and change your life forever.
